Still Water Sports

Each athlete has a different moisture condition, which changes due to weather conditions. In general, we recommend that everyone drink 64 ounces of water day to stay in the fully hydrated state. Sweating often occurs during physical activity, emissions to water and sodium from the body. To function its peak, athletes need to replenish this loss through water and sports drinks. Neglecting to replace both fluid and sodium results in loss of dehydration, which causes mental deterioration concentration, impaired energy metabolism and an imbalance in electrolyte levels. Also leads to early fatigue and decreased energy.
As a general rule, athletes should drink 16 ounces of water or sports drink two hours before activity. Then, drink another 8 oz 30 minutes before activity. During an activity, the fluids should be available to athletes in need. Coaches must be aware of the athletes the expulsion of a higher amount than normal sweat and ensure that the athlete is taking the measure of what they need. It is recommended that athletes half to replace fluid lost through sweating.
Athletes involved in short-term activity that lasted over 30 seconds are at high risk dehydration due to the intensity of the activity. These athletes should drink fluids are recommended before your activity and replace lost fluids as soon as possible afterwards. short-term activity lasting less than 30 seconds has little effect on dehydration and not a danger.
Athletes participating in the long term activity such as running, cycling and skiing more than 30 minutes need for regular fluid intake to reduce levels of dehydration, although this can cause cramps and gastrointestinal problems. To avoid such problems, athletes must train yourself to take more fluid to accustom their bodies to liquid.
During an activity, athletes should drink 8 ounces of fluid every 20 minutes. For the activities of more than 40 minutes, the water enough, because it provides no sodium intake is necessary to maintain electrolyte levels. If the water is all that is available, mix 1 teaspoon of salt per liter water is sufficient to maintain balance.
Too much water can cause another problem, hyponatremia, when sodium levels in the body are too low. Symptoms of hyponatremia include nausea, muscle cramps, disorientation, slurred speech, confusion and inappropriate behavior. This occurs when a water intake replace lost fluids, but not the intake of salt to replace lost sodium. Hyponatremia is more dangerous than dehydration, and it is important coaches to monitor how much fluid is taken to ensure that their athletes are not at risk for this potentially fatal disease. The old method "Drink as much as possible" is now seen as dangerous because of the effects it can have on reducing sodium levels.
If athletes are not yet unclear as to the amount of fluid to drink is not a simple urine test that determines the levels of hydration of a person. Athletes must have clear urine, showing that are fully hydrated. If urine is dark or there is restricted flow, the athlete needs more fluids. There is no fixed amount for each person, so it is important that as a coach, you train your athletes to learn what their individual bodies need.
